Over the years, I have read and heard different marketing; supposed experts talk about what makes a good website or blog. At one time it was just the right domain name. Then it was SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Now everyone has admitted that it is not the fancy hype that attracts people and keeps them coming back. It is CONTENT!
While on vacation this past summer, we stopped in Baker, Oregon. It was there the local library was having a book sale. As strange as it may sound, my family would rather go to where a library is selling off books than to a parade. Anyway it was at that book sale I picked up a book for 10 cents. It was titled Soft Selling in a Hard World, by Jerry Vass.
In that book Mr Vass presented some basic principles that pointed to integrity, content, and listening. What I have read of it, so far, point to making sales statements that can be back up. The benefit or content of the product being sold must enhance the buyer life in some way.
A few week ago, Darren Rowse released an eBook. A few weeks later he re-released the same eBook. This time with 50 extra pages for $15 more than the original. Why? Content!
Last Sunday, I heard Pastor Bob Caldwell mention the difference between a successful individual is not necessarily the number of their IQ. It was how they applied themselves to being successful.
Cussins Enterprises host and offer technical support for several blogs. Some do well. Others don’t do well at all. Why? Content!
Content takes work. The more successful blogs work at making their product the best possible around. We can only point them in the right direction. We can provide the right tools. But if the work is not done to provide the content then that blog and/or website will not perform well.
